There is no evidence that anxiety or nervousness alone causes truthful individuals to fail or deceptive individuals to pass a properly conducted polygraph examination.
It is important to understand that most people experience some degree of anxiety or nervousness during a polygraph examination. This may result in an elevated heart rate, blood pressure, and other physiological changes. However, this heightened state generally becomes the examinee's normal physiological pattern during the examination. Polygraph examiners are trained to evaluate significant physiological changes relative to each examinee's established physiological pattern.
There is no special technique or method required to prepare for a polygraph examination. The best approach is to arrive well-rested, sober, and in good physical condition. Ensure that you get a normal night's sleep, eat normally before your appointment, and follow any instructions provided by your examiner.
It is neither required nor recommended that you stop taking any prescribed medication prior to a polygraph examination. Continue taking prescribed medication as directed by your healthcare practitioner.
If there are any concerns about medication, feeling unwell or a medical condition, please inform your examiner before the examination begins.
Yes. Prior to the examination, each examinee is required to provide informed written consent. The purpose of the examination, the examination process, and QPOD Services' examination procedures and Terms and Conditions will be explained before the testing begins. No examination will be conducted without the examinee's voluntary written consent. The consent process takes place on the day of the examination before any testing begins.
Most polygraph examinations take between 90 minutes and 2 hours, depending on the nature and complexity of the case and the type of examination being conducted. In more complex matters, examinations may take longer.
Results are typically available within 24 to 48 hours after the examination. More complex investigations or large-scale screening projects may require additional analysis and reporting time. Where delays are anticipated, clients will be informed accordingly.
